Bloomberg: Iran evaluating US peace proposal, expects to respond within two days

(Central News Agency, Tehran, May 6, Comprehensive Foreign Report) Bloomberg News reported that an anonymous source revealed Iran is evaluating a new proposal put forward by the United States to end the nearly 10-week ongoing conflict between the two sides, and is expected to respond within the next two days through Pakistan as a mediator.

According to the source, the US government has proposed a one-page Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). If Iran accepts it, it would facilitate the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the US would also lift its blockade on Iranian ports.

The source stated that detailed negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program would take place in subsequent stages, and no agreement has been reached yet.

Following the news, oil prices initially plunged by over 10%, falling below $100 per barrel for the first time since late April, before paring losses. Global stock and bond markets also rose on market expectations of a potential agreement between the US and Iran.

The source mentioned that Iran is expected to respond through Pakistan as a mediator within the next two days.
