Ai Er Li Clinic Suspected of Hidden Cameras; New Taipei Prosecutors and Police Re-search 4 Branches in Xinzhuang and Other Areas

Central News Agency (Reporter Cao Ya-Yan, New Taipei 6th) — Ai Er Li Clinic's New Taipei Banqiao branch was recently found to have a suspected pinhole camera hidden inside a smoke detector. The New Taipei District Prosecutors' Office is investigating on charges of sexual privacy infringement and other offenses. Prosecutors and police this morning conducted a second search of four branches, including Banqiao, Xinzhuang, Linkou, and Yonghe.

Recently, a netizen reported that while undergoing body sculpting at Ai Er Li Medical Aesthetics Clinic's Banqiao branch, she found an unknown device in the corner of the ceiling suspected of containing a camera while changing clothes in the treatment room. Clinic staff insisted it was a smoke detector. After the woman reported it to the police, officers arrived and confirmed that the device contained a camera, but could not confirm if it was operational. The case was subsequently investigated for secret infringement.

The New Taipei District Prosecutors' Office previously directed police to search several branches and apprehended a 谢 (Xie) surname equipment vendor for questioning, who was later released without bail. This morning, prosecutors and police again dispatched multiple teams to search Ai Er Li Clinic's Banqiao, Xinzhuang, Linkou, and Yonghe branches and retrieve data. The entire case is being investigated on charges including sexual privacy infringement and secret infringement.

Ai Er Li Group issued a statement yesterday, stating that the installation of surveillance equipment in the group's clinics is aimed at ensuring medical quality and safeguarding the safety of medicines and equipment, and absolutely does not infringe upon consumers' personal privacy.
