(Central News Agency, Washington 5th, comprehensive foreign report) US tech news website The Information today cited sources familiar with the matter, reporting that artificial intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic has committed in its latest agreement to spend a massive 200 billion US dollars over the next five years to purchase cloud computing resources from Google.

Reuters quoted the report, stating that this committed amount accounts for over 40% of the total "Revenue Backlog" that Google (Alphabet) disclosed to investors last week. Revenue backlog refers to the committed amounts that cloud customers have signed but have not yet realized.

Following the news, Alphabet, Google's parent company, saw its stock price rise by about 2% after hours today.

In April this year, Anthropic signed an agreement with Google and its chip partner Broadcom to acquire 3.5 GW of Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) computing power, expected to go online sequentially starting in 2027.

Alphabet also plans to invest up to 40 billion US dollars in Anthropic, further deepening the cooperation between the two in the AI field. These two companies are both partners and competitors in the global AI race.

According to the report, existing contracts between Anthropic and OpenAI now account for over half of the approximately 2 trillion US dollars in undelivered contracts held by major cloud providers like Amazon (AWS), Microsoft (Azure), and Google Cloud.

Reuters stated it could not immediately confirm the report. Anthropic declined to comment, while Google referred inquiries to Anthropic.

Due to strong demand for its Claude series AI models, Anthropic has recently signed several major contracts to obtain more computing resources.

Last month, Anthropic reached a multi-year cooperation agreement with cloud infrastructure company CoreWeave, expecting to acquire nearly 1 GW of computing resources through Amazon chips by the end of the year.

Anthropic stated that they use various AI hardware to train and run Claude, including AWS's Trainium chips, Google TPUs, and Nvidia GPUs.

Benefiting from the booming AI sector and cloud business, which has driven strong stock price gains, Alphabet's market capitalization is nearing surpassing Nvidia, with the potential to claim the top spot in global market capitalization. (Compiled by Liu Wen-yu) 1150506
