International Turmoil: LDP Youth Division Director Urges Strengthened Economic Security Cooperation between Japan and Taiwan

Shojiro Hiranuma, Director of the Youth Division of Japan''s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), stated today in Taipei that Japan and Taiwan face similar global instability and should strengthen cooperation in fields such as economic security and disaster prevention. Leading a delegation to Taiwan during the Golden Week holiday, Hiranuma met with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu, and various political and economic leaders for meaningful exchanges. This visit also marked the first time the LDP Youth Division traveled to other regions, including Taichung City and Chiayi County, highlighting the need for stronger sister-city cooperation. Regarding Taiwan''s defense budget, Hiranuma clarified that while the topic was raised by Taiwanese counterparts, the delegation does not take a position on Taiwan''s internal political affairs. The 12-member delegation, including several Diet members and representatives from the Junior Chamber International Japan, is visiting Taiwan from May 2 to 6.
