Central News Agency (Penghu County CNA 4th) -- The "2026 Penghu International Fireworks Festival" kicked off tonight at the Magong Guanyinting Recreational Park, with a Japanese fireworks team launching over 10,000 fireworks themed to "Dragon Ball Z." The four-month-long Penghu International Fireworks Festival successfully began tonight despite strong winds, initiated by Penghu Deputy County Magistrate Lin Chieh-hsing and Speaker Chen Yu-jen, drawing exclamations of awe from over 20,000 tourists. Lin Chieh-hsing stated that the Penghu International Fireworks Festival is a highlight of Penghu tourism, now in its 24th year, attracting 500,000 tourists annually. This year marks the first cross-border collaboration with the international classic anime IP "Dragon Ball Z," featuring "venue integration" and "immersive experiences" to allow tourists to fully enjoy the charm of Penghu's summer tourism. A letter of appreciation was also presented to the Japanese fireworks team.
