During their stay in Taiwan, the delegation will meet with the Legislative Yuan and relevant government agencies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release this morning, stating that the 'All-Party Parliamentary Group on Taiwan' from the New Zealand Parliament is visiting Taiwan from May 4th to 8th. The delegation members include Group Leader Maureen Pugh (National Party), Co-Leader Duncan Webb (Labour Party), Laura McClure (ACT Party), and David Wilson (First Party). This marks the third visit by the pro-Taiwan group since its establishment in 2023, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its sincere welcome.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that during their visit to Taiwan, the delegation will meet with the Legislative Yuan and relevant government agencies to exchange views on regional situations and issues of common concern. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also arranged tours, hoping to enhance the visitors' understanding and friendship with Taiwan, and their comprehension of Taiwan's current development in various fields.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that New Zealand is an important friendly nation to Taiwan in the Indo-Pacific region. Taiwan and New Zealand share values of democracy, freedom, rule of law, and human rights, and both attach importance to the development rights and interests of indigenous peoples. Bilateral economic and trade exchanges continue to deepen under the 'ANZTEC Economic Cooperation Agreement.' The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes to continuously enhance the Taiwan-New Zealand partnership in various fields through parliamentary diplomacy on the existing friendly foundation, working together to promote democracy, peace, and prosperity and stability in the region.
