(Central News Agency reporter Yang Szu-jui, Tainan 4th) A man surnamed Jiang attended a professional baseball game at Tainan Asia-Pacific Baseball Stadium on March 29. Due to dissatisfaction during the exit guidance process, he allegedly verbally abused and slapped a part-time student worker surnamed Cai. The Tainan District Prosecutors Office concluded its investigation and indicted him for injury and public insult under the Criminal Code.

The Tainan District Prosecutors Office today issued a press release stating that at around 7 PM on March 29, Mr. Jiang, in the public area in front of the elevator on the 3rd floor of the 3rd base side of the main baseball field at Tainan Asia-Pacific Baseball Stadium, had a dispute with Mr. Cai over a trivial matter and became displeased. With intent to cause injury and public insult, he verbally abused Mr. Cai and swung his right hand to hit Mr. Cai's left cheek once.

The Tainan District Prosecutors Office pointed out that Mr. Jiang's actions caused Mr. Cai to suffer injuries including a contusion to his left cheek, dizziness, and abrasion to the oral mucosa of his left mouth, and also damaged Mr. Cai's reputation as witnessed by many people present.

The Tainan District Prosecutors Office noted that Mr. Jiang fully admitted his actions during police interrogation and investigation, which is consistent with Mr. Cai's statements during police interrogation and investigation. Furthermore, there are surveillance video footage and mobile phone video files provided by people at the scene, making the suspect's guilt ascertainable. Therefore, a public prosecution was initiated according to law.

The Tainan District Prosecutors Office stated that Mr. Jiang's single act simultaneously constituted charges of injury and public insult by violence under the Criminal Code, and thus a public prosecution was initiated, requesting the court to impose a heavier sentence for the injury charge.
