The Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Taichung City Police Bureau today issued a press release stating that on April 29, a large-scale drug destruction operation was conducted, destroying a total of 390 kilograms of various drugs. The police meticulously escorted the drugs to the Houli Waste Incinerator for public destruction.

In addition to common drugs like ketamine and cathinone-type (commonly known as 'Miaomiao') drug coffee bags, other drugs destroyed included methyl butyrate cartridges (commonly known as synthetic cannabis), cantaloupe pills (nitrazepam, commonly known as 'Yi Li Mian'), LSD drug stamps (containing various strong hallucinogenic ingredients), tramadol (an opioid central nervous system analgesic), and sibutramine (a Class 4 drug commonly illegally added to weight-loss products, often found in illicit weight-loss products). The estimated value is over NT$100 million.

The police initiated high-level security measures, with supervision from inspectorate, government ethics personnel, and representatives from relevant units. The drugs were escorted by officers from the Security Police Brigade, and the entire process was video-recorded for record. After the drugs arrived at the incinerator, they were immediately fed into a high-temperature furnace exceeding one thousand degrees Celsius. The ultra-high temperature can thoroughly decompose the chemical molecular structure of the drugs. After passing through the exhaust gas treatment system, it will not cause environmental pollution or secondary harm, thoroughly preventing the drugs from re-entering the market.
