(Central News Agency reporter Zhong Rong-feng, Penang, Malaysia, 29th) Motor giant TECO's subsidiary, TECOBAR Technology, today opened its new plant in Penang, Malaysia. TECOBAR Chairman Lin Ta-wen stated that the local expansion of busduct production actively seeks orders from US-based cloud service providers (CSPs) and major US artificial intelligence (AI) chip manufacturers, supplying the data center markets in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore.
Regarding capital market deployment, Lin Ta-wen revealed that TECOBAR plans to register on the emerging stock market in the second half of this year, with a long-term plan for a full listing.
Lin Ta-wen stated that TECOBAR's new plant in Penang, Malaysia, is located in the Prai/Perai industrial zone. The local busduct annual production capacity can reach 160,000 meters, which can be applied to 20 data centers, with a maximum annual production capacity of 400,000 meters. Currently, the automation level has reached 80%, making it a leader in the automation level of busduct production lines globally. The production line planning was led and designed by the TECO Group.
Lin Ta-wen estimated that the proportion of data centers in TECOBAR's overall performance at its Taoyuan Yangmei plant in Taiwan could increase to 30% this year. After the new Malaysian plant begins production, the target for data center business revenue is to exceed 50% in the future.
TECOBAR explained that its Taoyuan Yangmei plant in Taiwan primarily produces cast resin busduct products, which are mainly used in highly polluted environments, power plants, petrochemical plants, offshore wind power onshore substations, and other fields. The new plant in Penang, Malaysia, expands the production of armored busducts, aiming for various data center applications, including AI data centers.
According to data, the TECO Group entered Malaysia in the 1980s. Currently, TECO holds approximately 89% of TECOBAR's equity, and TECOBAR holds 100% of the Malaysian plant's equity. Data center applications account for approximately 17% of TECOBAR's overall business performance.
Legal persons pointed out that about 70% of global data center busduct production is in the North American market, and 30% is in the Southeast Asian market. Major manufacturers include Turkey's EAE Group and the US's Vertiv Group. TECOBAR's revenue in 2025 was approximately NT$1.5 billion, and this year's revenue target is to reach NT$3 billion. Currently, TECO Group's listed companies include TECO Electric and Machinery, Pelican Express, TECO Telecom, TECO Information System, and Len Chang Electronic. (Editor: Lin Chia-Hsien) 1150429
