(Central News Agency reporter Wu Hsin-Yun, Taipei, 29th) The Ministry of Labor held a model worker awards ceremony today, with a total of 61 recipients. Among them, Chang Sen, a technician from the Hualien Branch of the Forestry Bureau under the Ministry of Agriculture, who undertook the important task of surveying the forest road route for the Mata'an River landslide dam in Hualien, also received the honor of model worker today.
The Ministry of Labor held the model worker awards ceremony at the Regent Taipei today, with a total of 61 recipients, from industries including national defense and high-tech, finance, healthcare, and transportation.
Among them, Chang Sen, who has long been involved in mountain rescue and forest fire fighting, was not only recognized as a national meritorious rescue worker in 2022 but also received the model worker award today. However, due to illness requiring ongoing treatment, he was unable to attend in person.
Minister of Labor Hung Shen-Han stated that for many years, Chang Sen has stood on the front line, participating in countless mountain rescue operations. In last year's Mata'an River incident, Chang Sen also undertook the important task of surveying the forest road route, breaking through numerous collapsed terrains, successfully reaching the landslide dam site, collecting critical topographical data, and assisting the government in grasping the situation and making effective timely responses to significantly reduce subsequent disaster risks.
Hung Shen-Han also stated that understanding Chang Sen's regret at not being able to attend today's awards, he will personally go to Hualien to convey everyone's applause and blessings to him.
Among this year's award-winning workers, 10 are migrant workers. Among them, Yang Kuo-Chun (PHATTHARA EK PRADIT) from Thailand has served in Taiwan for 13 years. He not only obtained a forklift operator technician license but also enthusiastically helped new migrant workers adapt to work and life. During natural disasters, he actively participated in tree fall restoration and material distribution, demonstrating a high degree of civic consciousness and social responsibility.
Hung Shen-Han stated that Taiwan's overall economic development figures are good, repeatedly reaching new highs. However, behind these figures, in addition to increased transaction volumes and export figures, the contributions of workers at all levels should not be overlooked. Without the quality and contributions of workers, there would be no brilliant achievements of industries internationally, nor would there be the stability of social operations. This is something that society must be constantly reminded of.
The Ministry of Labor stated that this year's award-winning model workers will be accompanied by Hung Shen-Han to meet President Lai Ching-Te at the Presidential Office tomorrow, expressing the highest respect for this year's model workers and the deepest respect for workers in all industries across the country.
