(Central News Agency reporter Wu Hsin-Hua, Taipei, 28th) To encourage companies to become "super teammates" in workers' parenting, the Ministry of Labor is increasing corporate childcare subsidies, with applications opening on May 1st. The Ministry of Labor said today that considering the difficulties small businesses face in establishing facilities independently, it is developing plans to provide specialized guidance in various industrial parks, encouraging companies to jointly establish childcare centers.
The Ministry of Labor held its regular business report today, where Huang Wei-Chen, Director-General of the Department of Labor Welfare and Retirement at the Ministry of Labor, stated that the "Enterprise Childcare 333, Government Helps" new corporate childcare subsidy system will officially launch on May 1st, with applications accepted from companies before June 15th.
Huang Wei-Chen stated that the new corporate childcare subsidy system's subsidy items include a maximum subsidy of NT$20,000 for establishing employee breastfeeding (expressing milk) rooms, a maximum subsidy of NT$5 million for companies establishing new childcare facilities, and new subsidies for operating expenses, "childcare and nursery personnel personnel expenses," and "reduction of employee childcare fees."
In addition, it also includes a maximum annual subsidy of NT$1 million for workplace home-based childcare services, and a new subsidy for childcare personnel expenses, with a maximum of NT$60,000 per person per year, and a maximum of 2 subsidized individuals per employer.
In addition to childcare facilities, Huang Wei-Chen said that childcare subsidies have been increased, with the maximum annual subsidy raised to NT$1 million. The amount and proportion of subsidies provided by employers to each employee for childcare allowance have also been increased, with a maximum of NT$10,000 per person per year. For companies with fewer than 100 people, 70% of actual expenses are subsidized; for companies with 100 to 499 people, 60% of actual expenses are subsidized; for companies with 500 or more people, 50% of actual expenses are subsidized. The requirement that childcare allowance subsidies must be for employees' children "entrusted to childcare service institutions" has also been canceled.
Huang Wei-Chen said that to assist companies in providing breastfeeding (expressing milk) rooms, childcare facilities or measures, and applying for funding, 15 briefing sessions are planned for this year. As of the end of April this year, 7 briefing sessions have been held, with over a thousand companies participating.
Huang Wei-Chen also said that this year, in addition to forming a medical institution corporate childcare guidance team with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Education, it is also planned to establish specialized guidance teams in various industrial parks to provide project-based guidance to SMEs interested in establishing joint childcare facilities.
