Hsu Fu-Kai's "My Darling Child" recalls late father, father-son interactions written into song

Central News Agency (CNA) reporter Wang Hsin-Yu (王心宇) reported from Taipei on the 28th. Taiwanese Golden Melody singer Hsu Fu-Kai (許富凱) held a listening session for his new Taiwanese album "Ong-á-bu" today. He choked up and said that the new song "My Darling Child" incorporates his interactions with his late father, and this song is also like one he had already written for his father.

"Ong-á-bu" originally means a toy or a comforting small item. Hsu Fu-Kai integrated this concept throughout the music, visuals, and styling, hoping to accompany fans like a "ong-á-bu" and become a precious presence.

At today's listening session, Hsu Fu-Kai became emotional when talking about "My Darling Child," choking up as he said, "In 2023, I experienced my father's passing. This song feels like one I had already written for my dad a long time ago. I've written into the song what he would do for me, like writing letters." He admitted that he doesn't like to write about such things in songs, worrying it might seem overly sentimental.

Music producer Penny Tai (許哲珮) produced the album. Tai mentioned that her aunt's fondness for Hsu Fu-Kai led to their connection, and she even asked for concert tickets because of it. Hsu Fu-Kai joked that the recording session was like "channeling," and Tai's house was like a witch's house, filled with crystals and divination items.

Hsu Fu-Kai will hold the "Yi Wu Yi Shi" concert at the Taipei Arena on August 8th. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. (Edited by Chang Ya-Ching) 1150428
