Taipower's Taichung District Operating Office stated via a press release that at 12:47 PM today, parts of Taichung's North District (Section 3, Sanmin Road, Yizhong Street) and East District (Lixing Road, Section 4, Ziyou Road) experienced a power outage due to an underground cable fault, with lines overheating and emitting smoke.
