(Central News Agency reporter Cao Yayuan, New Taipei, April 27) Last night, a security guard at Taipei MRT Xindian Station stopped a passenger, Mr. Lee, from chewing gum. Mr. Lee then punched the security guard twice and fled the scene. After receiving the report, the police apprehended Mr. Lee near the MRT station and, after questioning, forwarded him to the prosecutor's office for investigation on assault charges.

The Xindian Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department stated today that at around 8 PM last night, they received a report of a conflict at Xindian MRT Station and immediately dispatched criminal investigation and Bitan police forces to the scene.

Upon investigation, 25-year-old security guard Ding found 51-year-old Mr. Lee chewing gum inside the station and approached him to intervene. A verbal argument ensued, and Mr. Lee, losing control, punched Mr. Ding twice before quickly fleeing the MRT station. Mr. Ding reported the incident to the Bitan Police Station after being medically examined.

The police reviewed surveillance footage and apprehended Mr. Lee within an hour of the incident. He was found approximately 400 meters from the MRT station and taken back to the police station for questioning.
