Ministry of Finance: NT$10,000 Cash Handout Countdown 4 Days, 250,000 People Yet to Collect

(Central News Agency reporter Lyu Yan-Tzu, Taipei 27th) The Ministry of Finance National Treasury Administration announced today that only four days remain until the collection deadline for the NT$10,000 universal cash handout. According to statistics, as of April 26, the collection rate has reached 98.92% of the estimated number of recipients, but there are still 250,000 people who have not yet collected it. Among them, nearly 30,000 people failed their account registration and have not subsequently used other channels to collect.

The Ministry of Finance National Treasury Administration issued a press release today stating that the collection deadline for the "Universal +1 Government Support" NT$10,000 cash handout will end on April 30. According to statistics, as of yesterday, over 23.31 million people have successfully collected the universal cash handout through multiple channels, with a collection rate reaching 98.92% of the estimated number of recipients.

The National Treasury Administration explained that it is currently estimated that 250,000 people have not yet collected, of whom nearly 30,000 people failed their account registration and have not subsequently used other channels to collect. It reminds the public that if they chose direct deposit or were eligible for direct deposit, they must check their passbook or confirm through online banking or mobile banking whether the funds have been credited. If the funds have not been credited, they should seize the opportunity to re-register for direct deposit before April 30 to confirm successful credit, or switch to ATM collection or post office collection.

The National Treasury Administration reminded that for those collecting at the post office, the service for collecting universal cash handouts at post office counters is only available until 5 PM on April 30. In addition, if eligibility for collection is only met on April 29 or April 30, and attempts to collect via direct deposit, ATM collection, or post office collection fail, individuals must call the toll-free customer service hotline 1988 or apply through the online text customer service on the universal cash handout official website before 23:59:59 on April 30. Applications after the deadline will not be accepted.

The National Treasury Administration explained that if citizens require assistance with collection through the 1988 customer service hotline, including applications for deceased family members who meet eligibility, they should complete the collection as soon as possible before April 30 after receiving notification from the 1988 customer service hotline, to avoid affecting their rights. According to statistics from the 1988 customer service team, as of April 26, there are still 104 cases where citizens have been notified to collect but have not yet completed the process.

Regarding newborns, the National Treasury Administration specifically explained that newborns born in Taiwan between April 1 and April 30 this year who have a birth certificate, and whose biological mother or father meets the eligibility requirements, have a collection deadline of May 22. According to statistics, approximately 6,000 eligible newborns were born in Taiwan between April 1 and April 26 this year, but only over 1,700 have collected, with a collection rate of only 28.98%. Parents are urged to pay attention to the collection period and must collect at the post office counter before May 22 this year, as collection will not be possible after the deadline.

The National Treasury Administration added that from May 1 onwards, the universal cash handout official website and ATMs will no longer allow registration or collection. The official website will only retain information related to the universal cash handout for public inquiry, and from May 4 onwards, post offices will only be open for the collection of universal cash handouts for April newborns.

The National Treasury Administration explained that the government will not proactively send text messages or emails to notify people to collect money or register, nor will it proactively demand transfers via ATM or online banking by phone.
