Iran's UN Ambassador: Gulf security requires guarantee that US and Israel will no longer attack

(Central News Agency, New York, UN Headquarters, 27th, comprehensive foreign report) Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, said today that the security of the oil-rich Persian Gulf region can only be ensured if Iran receives guarantees that the United States and Israel will no longer launch attacks.

According to AFP, Iravani spoke at a UN Security Council meeting initiated by Bahrain, where dozens of countries condemned Iran's control over the vital Strait of Hormuz.

Iravani stated at the meeting: "Lasting stability and security in the Persian Gulf and the wider region can only be achieved if acts of aggression against Iran are permanently ceased, coupled with credible assurances of no recurrence and full respect for Iran's legitimate sovereign rights and interests."

After the meeting, Iravani complained to the media that countries only criticized Iran but not the United States' naval blockade actions.

Iravani said: "The United States' actions are like those of pirates and terrorists, targeting merchant vessels through intimidation and coercion, terrorizing crews, unlawfully seizing ships, and holding crew members hostage."
