(CNA, Taipei, 26th) Meteorological expert Wu Der-rong stated that today and tomorrow will turn sunny and hot; a front will approach on the 29th and affect the island on the 30th, bringing showers or thunderstorms to various regions. The weather will stabilize on May 1st and 2nd, but another front is expected to approach from May 3rd, leading to more changes.
Wu Der-rong, an adjunct associate professor at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, National Central University, wrote in the '洩天機教室' (Unlocking Heaven's Secrets Classroom) column of the Meteorological Application Promotion Foundation today. Latest European model simulations show the front moving away today and tomorrow, with weather turning sunny and hot, and temperatures rising daily. The eastern half may experience occasional local light rain.
Wu pointed out that the latest simulations show increasing southern moisture on the 28th, with mostly cloudy to sunny and warm conditions nationwide, and occasional local showers in mountainous areas and the eastern half during the afternoon. A front will close in on the afternoon of the 29th, accompanied by local showers and thunderstorms, leading to a sudden weather change. On the 30th, the front will affect the area with local showers and thunderstorms, and Northern Taiwan will turn cooler.
Wu noted that the front will move away on May 1st and 2nd, with weather turning sunny and hot and temperatures rising, though mountainous areas may see occasional afternoon rain.
He added that another front is expected to approach on May 3rd, making the atmosphere unstable with local afternoon showers and warm weather. On May 4th and 5th, the front will impact conditions. However, various models are not consistent in their late-period simulations and are continuing to adjust, so uncertainties remain high and further observation is required.
