A large team of police, firefighters, and coast guard personnel rushed to the scene for a search. The man was found in a rocky area half an hour later, clearly deceased. The cause of the accident is under police investigation.

The Taitung County Fire Bureau stated that they received a report from the Coast Guard 118 at approximately 6 PM. Four men had agreed to go diving and spearfishing in the Dulan Cape rocky area at around 1:30 PM, and were expected to come ashore at 4:30 PM. One 50-year-old man surnamed Chen failed to return and lost contact. The other three sought help after failing to find him.

Companions stated that Mr. Chen was wearing a green wetsuit but did not have scuba equipment. Police, firefighters, and coast guard personnel arrived at the scene and launched a search after assessing the tidal currents. Half an hour later, the man was found in the rocky area on the north side of Dulan Cape, clearly deceased. Rescue personnel used a soft stretcher to lift him to the road.
