(Central News Agency New Taipei, April 26) Chen Cao-qian, wife of former Control Yuan President Chen Li-an and founder of New Taipei's private Tzu-Shiu High School, along with their son Chen Yu-kang, have been indicted for colluding with school board members to embezzle over 4.07 million NTD. Prosecutors have requested a one-year prison sentence for Chen Cao-qian and two years for Chen Yu-kang. The indictment states that as former and current chairpersons of the school, the pair utilized Chen Cao-qian's 'China Embroidery Workshop' and Chen Yu-kang's 'Lei Ke' company to create fake lease agreements for a Taipei office, defrauding the school of 240,000 NTD. Furthermore, starting in 2016, they collaborated with a former board member to use his company, 'Hong Ling International,' to sign lease contracts, funneling 1.98 million NTD for personal use. The investigation also revealed that the group claimed 170,000 NTD for miscellaneous office expenses and diverted 1.67 million NTD from the school's welfare shop by directing payments to personal checks instead of the school's accounts. A total of seven people were indicted for breach of trust and commercial accounting violations.
