Central News Agency (Reporter: Lu Kang-chun, Miaoli County, 25th) Pan Wei-sung, chief of the Longteng Police Station under the Miaoli County Police Bureau's Miaoli Division, was involved in a vehicle rollover accident while traveling with family and friends in a scenic area in Gansu, China. Pan and his wife were injured, and his brother-in-law passed away from severe injuries. The County Police Bureau stated that the National Police Agency has been notified to request assistance from the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC).
Deputy Chief Hsu Wen-ming of the Miaoli Division confirmed that Pan Wei-sung (54 years old), a sergeant acting as station chief at the Longteng Police Station, joined a tour group for a trip to Gansu Province, China, from April 20 to May 1. This afternoon, the electric vehicle they were riding in at a scenic area in Gannan Prefecture overturned.
The accident resulted in multiple injuries; Pan sustained abrasions and bruises to his hands, feet, and head, and his wife was also injured. Sadly, Pan's brother-in-law, who was traveling with them, suffered fatal injuries.
Hsu Wen-ming pointed out that Pan was on a pre-approved private family trip. After the accident, he immediately notified his supervisors at the division, who reported it up to the County Police Bureau and the National Police Agency, subsequently requesting aid from units like the MAC and the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF).
The Miaoli County Police Bureau stated that this case is an overseas accident involving cross-strait affairs, and any further public statements will be handled unified by the MAC.
