(Central News Agency reporter Hsieh Chun-lin, Taipei 24th) The Crime Victim Protection Association today held a donation press conference titled "Xin Sheng Takes the First Step, Shoes Go Together" at the Ministry of Justice. Dali Bu Company donated 1800 pairs of branded athletic shoes, joining hands with the association to accompany "Xin Sheng Ren" (crime victims and their families) further down the road.
The press conference today was attended by Minister of Justice Cheng Ming-chien, Chairman of the Crime Victim Protection Association Chang Dou-hui, and two representatives of Xin Sheng Ren, witnessing the collaboration between enterprises and the private sector in supporting crime victim protection efforts.
The Crime Victim Protection Association issued a press release stating that Ms. Hsiao Jui-fen, Chairman of Dali Bu Company, has long been enthusiastic about public welfare. After learning about the association's service philosophy, she deeply felt that social resources should widely care for vulnerable groups, and thus generously responded to the charitable shoe donation service plan. To expand the scope of care, Dali Bu Company even increased the donation quantity from the original plan of 1000 pairs to 1800 pairs, expressing care and support for Xin Sheng families through practical actions.
The Crime Victim Protection Association said that when a crime occurs suddenly, the lives of Xin Sheng Ren (victims and their families) often instantly deviate from their tracks. Facing multiple pressures such as medical care, rehabilitation, schooling, employment, and family care, the long road to rebuilding life is arduous. Although shoes are daily necessities, they are also one of the most practical supports on the road to rebuilding life, not only symbolizing the strength to stand firm again but also carrying the warmth of social companionship and encouragement to move forward.
According to the press release, the service targets of this plan include severely injured victims or their family caregivers, victims and family members who are new to or returning to the workplace, Xin Sheng students who need to commute long distances to and from school, and Xin Sheng families with financial difficulties. The Crime Victim Protection Association will properly distribute these 1800 pairs of athletic shoes through its various branches according to the actual needs of the cases, delivering them to the Xin Sheng Ren who truly need them, transforming them into substantial life support.
The press conference also played a video of Xin Sheng Ren living their lives wearing new athletic shoes, such as a Xin Sheng Ren from the Nantou branch kneading dough to make egg yolk pastries while wearing athletic shoes, and then setting up a stall at the market to sell cakes, gradually regaining self-confidence. A Xin Sheng Ren from the Chiayi branch wore these shoes while moving around the house, suctioning phlegm, massaging, and meticulously caring for her severely injured husband. Two Xin Sheng Ren were also invited to share their experiences on site.
The press release stated that the Crime Victim Protection Association has long provided concrete protective services such as legal assistance, psychological support, financial assistance, life reconstruction, and resource connection. Through this event, it is hoped that the public will better understand the importance of crime victim protection work, gather more goodwill and resources, and jointly build a more comprehensive social support network.
