Taoyuan Daxi Zhongzhuang Leisure Agriculture Area Designated, Has Tourism Development Potential

(Central News Agency, Reporter Yeh Chen, Taoyuan, 23rd) The Taoyuan City Department of Agriculture stated today that after years of striving, the Daxi Zhongzhuang Leisure Agriculture Area was recently officially designated by the Ministry of Agriculture. It has become Taoyuan City's 13th leisure agriculture area and will team up with the Yuemei, Kangzhuang, and Baiji leisure agriculture areas in Daxi to form four major characteristic agritourism clusters.

Taoyuan City Department of Agriculture Director-General Chen Kuan-Yi stated that the Zhongzhuang Leisure Agriculture Area covers an area of over 471 hectares. It boasts various scenic and recreational facilities, including the Zhongzhuang Retention Basin, Daxi Riverside Park, Dakekan Creek Natural Wetland, and the Dahan Creek cross-river recreational corridor. It has also developed sixth-sector industries, such as experiential farms and eco-friendly farm-to-table dining.

Chen Kuan-Yi also noted that the Zhongzhuang Leisure Agriculture Area is a crucial leek production specialty zone in Northern Taiwan. The "Leek Festival" held every September has gradually developed into a representative seasonal landscape event. It is a park that combines water resource landscapes with the unique leek industry, possesses good transportation conditions, and holds immense potential for tourism development.

Chen mentioned that as the review standards for leisure agriculture areas have become increasingly strict, it was not easy for the Daxi Zhongzhuang Leisure Agriculture Area to successfully pass the designation. This signifies that Zhongzhuang has a solid foundation in agricultural production, landscape resources, and leisure service development. Now, it can further align with other leisure agriculture areas like Yuemei, Kangzhuang, and Baiji to form four major distinctive agritourism clusters.

The Department of Agriculture stated that it will continue to promote the "One Area, One Specialty" strategy, combining circular agriculture, sustainable tourism, and low-carbon concepts.
