TAIPEI (CNA) — The Ministry of Environment launched the 'Bag-to-Bag: Second-hand Bag Cycling Platform' on March 26, successfully collecting approximately 60,000 bags in its first month. A digital matching mechanism will soon be introduced to encourage public participation.
The Resource Circulation Administration (RCA) stated that the platform aims to revitalize idle resources amid global plastic material price fluctuations. Over 70 enterprises, local governments, and retailers joined the initiative in the first month. Notable contributors include First Bank and Mega Financial Holding, which collected 16,000 and 32,000 bags, respectively.
Collected bags are reused in markets like the Jianguo Flower Market and various retail outlets. The RCA noted that the platform will undergo an upgrade to include digital matching. This system will use smart flow management based on geographic location, quantity, and specifications to improve matching efficiency. Interested enterprises and stores can register on the platform via the Ministry of Environment's website to maximize the value of every idle bag.
