US and Iran Extend Ceasefire, US Stocks Close Higher

(New York, 22nd, CNA) Following US President Trump's extension of the ceasefire agreement with Iran, although the market remains uncertain whether this move will lead to concrete peace talks, major US stock market indices closed higher today, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ending a two-day losing streak.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 340.65 points, or 0.69%, to close at 49,490.03.

The S&P 500 Index gained 73.89 points, or 1.05%, finishing at 7,137.90.

The Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 397.61 points, or 1.64%, to close at 24,657.57.
