In Response to AI Memory Demand, SK Hynix Invests Over 400 Billion Won to Build New Factory in Korea

(Central News Agency, Seoul, 22nd, comprehensive foreign report) South Korean semiconductor giant SK Hynix announced today that it plans to invest up to 19 trillion Korean Won (approximately 404.8 billion New Taiwan Dollars) to build a new advanced packaging manufacturing plant in South Korea, in response to the increasing global demand for AI memory. The new plant is expected to break ground this month.

Reuters reported that SK Hynix Inc., one of the world's largest memory chip manufacturers supplying technology giant Nvidia, has recently been expanding its production capacity to meet the strong demand from artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.

SK Hynix stated in a statement that the new fab will focus on advanced packaging technology, a process critical for producing artificial intelligence memory products, such as High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips.
