Hsinchu County Demolishes Illegal Structures at 'Wulin Tie' Campsite; Operator Fined for Unauthorized Accommodation

HSINCHU COUNTY, April 22 (CNA) — The Hsinchu County Government announced today that it has forcibly demolished illegal structures at the 'Wulin Tie' campsite in Jianshi Township. The operator failed to improve the violations within the specified time limit. Furthermore, the operator was penalized for managing guest rooms without a valid guesthouse license as the county continues to tighten enforcement to ensure public safety in mountainous regions.

According to county data, Wulin Tie Development Co., Ltd. occupied agricultural land on plot 480 of the Meilin Section in Jianshi Township. Multiple unauthorized buildings and concrete surfaces were found on the site. The Land Administration Department had previously fined the operator NT$60,000 for violating the Regional Planning Act.

To safeguard the geological integrity of the mountains and the legality of campsites, the Public Works Department previously requested the Jianshi Township Office to conduct an on-site inspection. The township office subsequently reported the suspected illegal structures to the county government for verification.

The county noted that the operator violated the Building Act by constructing and using facilities without approval. Formally notified under the Enforcement Rules for the Management of Illegal Buildings, the operator was given a deadline to rectify the situation. Following their failure to do so, the county proceeded with forced demolition, emphasizing that illegal land use and safety-risking buildings will not be tolerated.

The Department of Transportation and Tourism also took action against 'illegal lodging.' The operator was caught running six guest rooms without a guesthouse registration certificate. A fine of NT$84,000 was imposed along with a closure order. The fine has been paid and deposited into the treasury.
