Chiang Wan-an: Feitsui Reservoir to Support Grid, Seeking Consensus with Taipower

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an responded today to concerns that the Feitsui Reservoir Administration might stop emergency power support due to a pricing dispute with Taipower. The administration head, Lin Yu-yi, recently suggested halting support because Taipower refused to pay a 'water consumption compensation fee.' Chiang clarified that the city will follow existing contracts and fully cooperate with central power dispatch needs. The issue stems from audit comments from the Control Yuan and the National Audit Office, which pointed out that the reservoir's hydroelectric selling rates are too low. Chiang has instructed Deputy Mayor Chang Wen-te to contact Taipower and the Water Resources Agency immediately for face-to-face talks to reach a fair consensus based on the audit opinions. Democratic Progressive Party councilors noted the positive atmosphere of their meeting with the Mayor and urged a swift resolution through direct communication.
