In the third inning of today's game, with the Dodgers leading 2-1, Ohtani hit a low-breaking pitch precisely to right field for a hit. This hit marked his 52nd consecutive game reaching base, surpassing Babe Ruth's record of 51 games set in 1923 while playing for the New York Yankees.

In his first at-bat of the first inning, Ohtani did not get a hit but reached base on an error and successfully stole second base, marking his first stolen base of the season.

In the previous game against the Rockies, Ohtani hit a double to right-center in the third inning, achieving a 51-game on-base streak and tying Ruth's record. He hit another double in the ninth inning, marking a two-hit performance for the game.

Although there is still a significant gap to the MLB record of 84 consecutive games set by Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox in 1949, Ohtani is now approaching the Dodgers' team history record of 58 games set by Duke Snider in 1954, just six games shy of potentially breaking it. He also tied the record for the longest streak by an Asian player, held by Choo Shin-soo at 52 games in 2018.
