Central News Agency Message (CNA Reporter Tseng Jen-kai, Taipei, 20th) Optimistic about the explosive power demand brought by the scaling up of AI computing power, IC distribution giant WPG Holdings is actively positioning itself. Its subsidiary World Peace Industrial (WPI) Group has partnered with BPS (Bright Power Semiconductor). BPS stated that its multiphase controller products have been mass-produced for NVIDIA platform terminals, and it is also collaborating with and has obtained certification from platforms like AMD.
WPI stated that with the rapid development of AI servers and high-performance computing (HPC), which are continuously moving towards higher computing power and larger throughput, the power supply system has become the critical core supporting the new generation of computing platforms.
WPI further pointed out that due to the significant surge in GPU power consumption, the power density of a single cabinet has rapidly increased from 3K-5KW to over 30K-100KW, making traditional power solutions face challenges such as voltage drops, insufficient response speed, and high power losses. In this context, high-performance power solutions must possess nanosecond-level transient response, conversion efficiency exceeding 98%, support for 48V architecture, as well as high power density and intelligent power management capabilities. Otherwise, next-generation AI computing clusters will be constrained by power consumption and reliability bottlenecks.
WPI teamed up with BPS to hold an online seminar on "AI Server and High-Performance Computing Power Solutions," focusing on the development of HPC and power architectures. Hu Wei-bo, Director of High-Performance Computing Solutions at BPS, believes that the explosive growth of AI computing power brings both technical challenges and new application opportunities for power-related companies.
Hu Wei-bo stated that after BPS previously acquired the high-performance analog and mixed-signal IC design company, E-Charging, it further strengthened its overall technical capabilities. Its multiphase controller products are already in mass production for NVIDIA platform end devices, and it has also collaborated with and obtained certification from AMD platforms, expanding its products into various fields such as data center servers, personal computers, and graphics cards. WPI obtained the agency sales rights for BPS in October 2024, assisting in market expansion. (Editor: Chang Chun-mao) 1150420
