According to a statement from the Haishan Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department, they received a report around 7 AM today that a woman was running and brandishing a cleaver in an alley off Zhongzheng Road. Motorcyclists and pedestrians were frightened and dodged her, but fortunately, no one was injured.
The police stated that officers were dispatched to handle the situation. Because the woman was highly emotional and ignored commands to stop, officers resorted to spraying pepper spray to restrain and take her into protective custody, followed by forced hospitalization.
