BEIJING, April 20 (CNA) -- In view of the solar energy industry being one of China's sectors most severely affected by overcapacity, Chinese authorities recently held a symposium to promote "anti-involution" efforts in the solar industry to address the issue of overcapacity in this sector.

According to a report by Lu Media's 21st Century Business Herald today, information from the official website of the Department of Electronic Information of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) indicates that departments including MIIT, the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the National Energy Administration jointly convened a solar (photovoltaic) industry symposium on the 17th to deploy work related to regulating the competitive order in the solar industry.

The meeting stated that it is necessary to deeply implement the work arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council regarding the regulation of the photovoltaic industry's competitive order, profoundly understand the importance and urgency of governing "involutionary" competition, and solidly advance the "anti-involution" work in the solar industry.

The meeting demanded strengthened inter-departmental coordination and concerted efforts to continue deepening the governance work in the solar industry, fully advancing comprehensive governance for "anti-involution" in areas such as production capacity control, standard leadership, innovation drive, price enforcement, quality supervision, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property protection, thereby promoting the "high-quality development" of the solar industry.

Participants included the China Photovoltaic Industry Association and relevant enterprises such as China Huaneng Group, China Datang Group, China Huadian Corporation, State Power Investment Corporation, China Energy Investment Group, and China National Nuclear Corporation.
