(Central News Agency reporter Kao Hua-chien, Taipei, 15th) Former Taiwan People's Party (TPP) legislator Li Chen-hsiu was expelled from the party, losing her status as an at-large legislator. After receiving the official letter from the Legislative Yuan canceling Li's registration this morning, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced in the afternoon that she will be replaced by Hsu Chung-hsin of the TPP.
Li Chen-hsiu, a mainland spouse, was expelled from the TPP on the 13th. The CEC stated on the same day that it had received a letter from the TPP regarding her expulsion. Therefore, in accordance with the Public Officials Election and Recall Act, it requested the Legislative Yuan to cancel Li's legislative registration.
The CEC confirmed that it received the official letter from the Legislative Yuan canceling Li's registration this morning. It will process the replacement according to the Public Officials Election and Recall Act and will ratify the replacement case in a subsequent committee meeting.
The CEC's announcement on its official website this afternoon regarding the "List of Replacement Candidates for the 11th Legislative Yuan Elected by the National At-Large and Overseas Citizens Electoral District" showed that the replacement is Hsu Chung-hsin of the TPP, and his term will last until the expiration date of the 11th Legislative Yuan.
