(CNA Reporter Tsai Chih-ming, Chiayi County, 17th) Chiayi County Zhuqi High School's robotics competition team, FRC7551, won the "Engineering Inspiration Award" at the 2026 FRC Gotham Regional Competition in New York on the 8th, advancing to the Houston World Championship. The Chiayi County Government granted an additional NT$2 million subsidy to encourage them.

Led by Zhuqi High School Principal Su Yuan-yuan and the teaching team, the FRC7551 team ranked in the top three in accumulated competition and award points this year, securing a ticket to the world championship. They were the only Taiwanese team in the New York regional to advance, setting the best record in team history.

The FRC7551 team will head to the world championship on the 29th alongside 7 other outstanding teams representing Taiwan, competing against 600 teams globally. Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang visited Zhuqi High School to congratulate the students, listening to their competition experiences and preparation strategies.

In a media interview, Weng stated that the Chiayi County Government is in its 4th year of subsidizing international competition participation. For the Zhuqi High School team's trip to New York, the county had already subsidized NT$2 million, and will add another NT$2 million for reaching the finals, encouraging students to maintain their passion for "connecting with the world."
