Yuan Ze University today issued a press release stating that the International Society for Gerontechnology selects one "Master of Gerontechnology" every two years, with only eight top scholars having been selected previously, symbolizing the highest achievement in the field. Hsu Yeh-Liang was selected as a "Master of Gerontechnology" at the 14th World Congress in 2024, and the award ceremony will be held at this year's congress. It was also announced that the 16th World Congress of the International Society for Gerontechnology will be held in Taiwan. Hsu Yeh-Liang stated that being listed alongside previous masters is a deeply meaningful honor and represents the important responsibility of undertaking the development of gerontechnology. Taiwan's gerontechnology field has matured in recent years, and 2028 will be an important opportunity to showcase application results internationally, with the core theme being "Gerontechnology Application Implementation," connecting academia and industry. Hsu Yeh-Liang, who has long been deeply involved in gerontechnology and innovative product design, founded the Gerontechnology Research Center in 2003, one of the earliest research units in Taiwan to engage in this field. In 2014, he successfully bid for the International Society for Gerontechnology World Congress to be held in Taipei and served as the congress chairman. Since 2020, he has been continuously listed in Stanford University's "World's Top 2% Scientists" career scientific impact ranking. In terms of industry-academia collaboration, Hsu Yeh-Liang led a team to establish a startup company, commercializing research results such as smart mattresses, which have been introduced into over 40 medical and long-term care institutions across Taiwan. He also participated in government policy formulation, assisting in compiling white papers on an aging society, promoting revisions to the smart assistive device subsidy system, and participating in gerontechnology industry action plans, all of which have a key impact on Taiwan's gerontechnology policy and industrial development.
