Taiwan TECO Director Visits Arizona State Legislature, Toasts with Bubble Tea to Witness Friendship

(Central News Agency reporter Lin Honghan, Los Angeles, 16th) The Arizona State Senate and House of Representatives took major actions to support Taiwan, inviting Ma Boyuan, director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, into the legislative chamber to witness the passage of a pro-Taiwan resolution. During a meal with state senators and representatives, both Taiwan and US sides raised glasses of bubble tea to celebrate.

The Arizona State Legislature today announced the establishment of the bicameral "Joint Legislative Taiwan Caucus" dedicated to promoting exchanges with Taiwan. The State Senate and House of Representatives each issued a "pro-Taiwan resolution" supporting Taiwan's participation in international organizations.

Tony Rivero, Chairman of the House International Trade Committee and Chairman of the Taiwan Caucus, and Frank Carroll, Senate Majority Whip, introduced Ma Boyuan to all the legislators when passing the pro-Taiwan resolutions respectively.

It is worth noting that the state legislature's resolution touches on the core issue of Taiwan's participation in the international community, and it is also the first time the state legislature mentioned United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758, pointing out that the resolution did not exclude Taiwan from participating in international organizations, nor did it authorize the People's Republic of China to represent Taiwan.

The state legislature announced its support for Taiwan's participation in international organizations, including the United Nations system, the World Health Organization, the International Civil Aviation Organization, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and Interpol.

After the meeting, Ma Boyuan treated the state senators and representatives to a Taiwanese snack, bubble tea, to thank the bipartisan support of the state legislature. Both Taiwan and US sides held bubble tea in their hands and toasted to celebrate.

Tony Rivero, Chairman of the House Taiwan Caucus, stated that for Arizona, the Taiwan issue is not a political issue, and the state legislature's support for Taiwan has always crossed all political spectrums.

Senate Majority Whip Frank Carroll stated that he passes by the TSMC factory area every day and witnesses the rapid progress of the project. He expects TSMC to bring in more talent, the Taiwanese community to continue growing, and more cultural exchanges to take place in the future.
