(Central News Agency, reporter Lin Jingyin, Taipei, April 17th) The Legislative Yuan's caucuses reached a consensus today that the vote on the consent for the appointment of the Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors Office will be held by roll-call vote on the morning of May 5th.
The term of the current Prosecutor General, Xing Tai-chao, expires on May 7th. President Lai Ching-te, in accordance with Article 66, Paragraph 2 of the Court Organization Act, nominated Xu Xi-xiang, a chief prosecutor at the Supreme Prosecutors Office, as the Prosecutor General. The Legislative Yuan's Committees on Judicial Affairs and Legal Systems and Home Affairs jointly reviewed Xu Xi-xiang's consent for appointment on April 8th and 9th.
The caucuses agreed this morning that May 5th, along with April 24th and April 28th, will be consolidated into a single session, with the Prosecutor General's consent vote by roll call scheduled for the morning of May 5th.
Furthermore, the caucuses also agreed that on the afternoon of May 5th, the Comptroller-General of the Audit Bureau will be invited to attend and report on the review of the 113th fiscal year central government final accounts and the review of the 4th phase special final accounts for the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program, followed by questioning.
