New Taipei City Government is striving for the Sanying MRT Line to open in June. New Taipei City Government Department of Transportation Director Zhong Ming-shi stated today that the preliminary inspection committee will meet on the 17th to finalize the preliminary inspection schedule. He hopes to complete the preliminary inspection by the end of April and report to the Ministry of Transportation, with the goal of completing the final inspection and opening in June.
Democratic Progressive Party New Taipei City Councilor Zhuo Guan-ting questioned in the New Taipei City Council this afternoon, stating that based on the experience of Taichung MRT and New Taipei MRT Circular Line Phase 1, it usually takes three months from preliminary inspection to reporting to the Ministry of Transportation, completing the final inspection, and obtaining an operating permit. With less than three months until June, he asked how they plan to achieve the June opening.
Zhong Ming-shi responded that the preliminary inspection committee will hold its first meeting on the 17th to determine the preliminary inspection schedule. He hopes to complete the preliminary inspection by the end of April and report to the Ministry of Transportation, aiming for the central government to complete the final inspection and opening in June.
Regarding the issue of installing sound barriers on the Sanying Line, New Taipei City Government Department of Rapid Transit Systems Director Li Zheng-an stated that although noise levels along the line are below legal limits, soundproofing optimization projects will still be carried out in 13 areas along the line. School vicinities will be prioritized as the first phase of improvement targets, with plans to install 2-meter sound barriers.
Zhuo Guan-ting pointed out that the noise severely interferes with teaching and learning at schools along the line and demanded special subsidies for schools to install airtight windows. New Taipei City Government Department of Education Director Zhang Ming-wen said that monitoring and evaluation would be conducted after the Department of Rapid Transit Systems completes the first phase of sound barrier projects.
