New Taipei City Art Exhibition and Literature Awards simultaneously open for submissions, total prize money of NT$2.81 million

Central News Agency (New Taipei, April 15) – Submissions for the New Taipei City Art Exhibition and New Taipei City Literature Awards are now open. The Art Exhibition accepts submissions until May 15, with a total prize money of up to NT$1.5 million; the Literature Awards, themed "Rewriting Daily Life," accepts submissions until July 15, with a total prize money of NT$1.31 million, bringing the combined total prize money to NT$2.81 million. The New Taipei City Cultural Affairs Department today issued a press release announcing the official launch of submissions for the 38th "New Taipei City Art Exhibition" and the 16th "New Taipei City Literature Awards." The New Taipei City Art Exhibition is divided into two categories: "General Group" and "Youth Group." The General Group includes five major media: watercolor, oil painting, printmaking, photography, and technological art; the Youth Group is limited to watercolor and printmaking, and eligible creators must be born between January 1, 1997, and December 31, 1999, and possess Republic of China nationality or a Republic of China resident certificate for foreign nationals. The Cultural Affairs Department pointed out that the total prize money for the New Taipei City Art Exhibition is as high as NT$1.5 million, with the highest single prize being NT$150,000. Submissions can be made both online and via paper; each participant can submit to different categories, but is limited to one entry per category. Award-winning works will be exhibited from October to November. The Literature Awards solicit five literary genres: essays, new poetry, short stories, picture book stories, and new resident graphic creations, with submissions open from now until July 15, and a total prize money of NT$1.31 million. This year's theme, "Rewriting Daily Life," encourages creators to transform their daily observations and feelings into unique literary expressions, conveying their inner fantasies or true emotions. The Cultural Affairs Department stated that this year's Literature Awards have adjusted the submission qualifications. The "Youth Group" encourages young people aged 12 to 18 in New Taipei City to participate, and the "New Resident Graphic Creation Group" invites new residents themselves, those with direct lineal relatives who are new residents, and migrant workers to submit. The theme for this group is "Please Get Off at This Station," requiring 200 to 1000 Chinese characters with accompanying images to write about flowing memories and stories. In addition, this year's Literature Awards also plan a series of activities: on May 10, writer Mu Yu will be invited to share her immigrant writing perspective and life stories; on May 31, the "Picture Book Story Workshop" will be led by Hai Gou Fang Dong, exploring narrative and composition in picture book creation; and on June 14, writer Wu Xiao-le will analyze the thought process behind creation from the perspective of novel texts.
