New Taipei Banqiao Hansheng Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic Suspected of Defrauding NHI Fees; Director Granted Bail for NT$1.5 Million

The Hansheng Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic in Banqiao, New Taipei City, announced on its official website that it will be temporarily closed for two days due to cooperation with regulatory authorities, sparking discussion. Investigators received reports that the clinic is suspected of defrauding the National Health Insurance of millions of New Taiwan Dollars. Yesterday, the New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office, under the command of the Investigation Bureau's New Taipei City Investigation Division, conducted searches at multiple locations and detained over 10 people, including the director, vice director, and medical staff, who were subsequently transferred to the prosecutor's office for interrogation last night. After interrogation, the prosecutor determined that the defendants were suspected of crimes including fraud and falsification of business records, but there was no necessity for detention. All were granted bail. Specifically, the director surnamed Qiu was granted bail for NT$1.5 million, and the vice director surnamed Lin for NT$1.2 million. Doctors surnamed Guo and Lin were granted bail for NT$800,000 and NT$500,000 respectively. Three nurses were granted bail ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$80,000.
