(Central News Agency reporter Lin Hsing-chien, Manila, April 14) To implement the Ministry of Education's 'International Industry-Academia Education Cooperation Alliance' program, National Chung Hsing University, Cheng Shiu University, and Kun Shan University jointly organized an overseas education exhibition and reached a consensus with high-quality Philippine schools on signing memorandums of understanding to establish long-term strategic partnerships.

The education exhibition, named '2026 INTENSE Program Philippines Overseas Education Exhibition,' grandly opened on April 13 at the SMX Convention Center in Manila, bringing together a 'Taiwan team' composed of 15 excellent Taiwanese universities and colleges. This is the largest collective appearance of Taiwan's higher education in the Philippines in the post-pandemic era.

The INTENSE Program focuses on cutting-edge fields such as 'Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics' (STEM), finance, artificial intelligence (AI), and semiconductors, with curriculum design closely aligned with global industry trends. The exhibition featured 15 consultation booths, attracting a large number of Filipino students and teachers for discussions, creating a lively exchange atmosphere.

The opening ceremony was jointly unveiled by officials from the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and several university executives from Taiwan and the Philippines.

Representative Chou Min-kan, in his speech, mentioned that Filipino students have become one of Taiwan's top 5 international student groups in the previous academic year, demonstrating the growing academic ties and mutual trust between the two countries. On this basis, the INTENSE Program not only provides scholarship support but also strives to create a talent cultivation pathway for international development.

Chou Min-kan also mentioned that Taiwan has a solid foundation in the semiconductor field and will continue to share resources and expertise to help Filipino youth broaden their international horizons and diverse career opportunities.

Chung Hsing University Vice President Chou Chi-chung pointed out that the significance of this event lies in every participant jointly investing in building a more connected future for the youth of both countries; as the core institution promoting the INTENSE Program in the Philippines, Chung Hsing University will continue to play a key bridge role, connecting opportunities and aspirations, allowing exchanges to be concretely implemented.

Chou Chi-chung further explained that relevant deployments have gradually unfolded, starting from Manila, extending to Iloilo in central Philippines, and continuously expanding southward. By establishing a closer cooperation network with various state universities in the Philippines, Taiwan's higher education is gradually integrating locally, catering to student needs, and providing more flexible support mechanisms, also allowing Taiwanese universities to gradually accumulate recognition and trust, establishing long-term and stable inter-university cooperation relationships.

The Taiwanese team is successively visiting high-quality Philippine schools and has reached a consensus on signing memorandums of understanding (MOU), preparing to open long-term strategic partnerships.

The Office of International Affairs of Chung Hsing University stated that the successful holding of this education exhibition symbolizes the continuous expansion of Taiwan's higher education influence in Southeast Asia. In the future, the Taiwan team will continue to promote Taiwan's high-quality learning environment and reasonable tuition fees through overseas platform, attracting more Filipino youth to choose Taiwan as their preferred destination for further studies, and jointly opening a new chapter in Taiwan-Philippines talent cultivation.
