Central News Agency
(Seoul, April 15th, Reuters) - Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced today that the design for the next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) chip, AI5, has been finalized. He also expressed his gratitude to Samsung Electronics and Taiwan's TSMC, which are responsible for producing the AI5 chip.

Musk posted on the social media platform X today, saying, "Congratulations to the Tesla AI chip design team for completing the tape-out of AI5."

He added, "We are developing exciting chips such as AI6 and Dojo3." Tape-out refers to the final confirmation of a chip design and its entry into the manufacturing phase.

Musk thanked Samsung and TSMC: "Thank you for your production support." He also said, "This chip will be one of the largest AI chips ever mass-produced."

According to South Korea's Chosun Ilbo, the AI5 and AI6 chips mentioned by Musk will be used in Tesla's autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots. AI5 will be jointly produced by TSMC and Samsung, while AI6 will be entirely manufactured by Samsung. Musk had previously stated that the tape-out for AI6 might occur as early as December of this year.

However, Musk mistakenly tagged TSMC's account on X to another company, Taiwan Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (TSC), which humorously replied in the comments section, "Everyone makes mistakes, it's okay."

Taiwan Semiconductor (TSC) states in its account description: "We are not TSMC. We are a leading manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components. (Compiled by: Li Peishan) 1150416
