The store manager spotted him and chased him outside. To escape, Huang scuffled with the manager and helpful citizens. Police arrived and arrested Huang. His crime escalated from theft to robbery, and he is being prosecuted for suspected quasi-robbery.

The Caotun Precinct of the Nantou County Police Bureau explained to the media today that the Fengcheng Police Station recently received a report that a man attempted to leave a convenience store after stealing items like snacks and hot food. After being caught by the store manager, a physical altercation ensued. Police arrived and swiftly arrested the suspect, surnamed Huang. Because Huang scuffled with the manager and others to keep the snacks and escape, the entire case has been transferred to the Nantou District Prosecutors Office for investigation under the charge of quasi-robbery according to the Criminal Code.

The Caotun Precinct stated that Huang went to the convenience store pretending to shop, holding items like potato chips, popsicles, and fried chicken in his hands, and walked out of the store without paying at the counter. The manager noticed and yelled to stop him. Upon hearing the shouts, Huang hurriedly tried to leave on a bicycle. The manager chased after him and, along with helpful citizens, blocked his way. To escape, Huang pulled and scuffled with them, causing injuries to a helpful citizen.

The Caotun Precinct noted that this convenience store maintained contact with the police station. When the incident occurred, the manager quickly contacted the police, who arrived promptly. Seeing the police, Huang lost control of his emotions, was subdued by the officers, and, realizing escape was hopeless, gave up resisting. After confirming the crime, the officers arrested him and took him back to the station for investigation, tallying the stolen goods' value at 1,001 New Taiwan Dollars.
