Li Chien-lung claims suspected tracker discarded, won't report; New Taipei police proactively investigate

New Taipei City Police stated on April 16th that after Deputy Police Chief Lin Wu-hong met with Li Chien-lung, Li claimed the device was discarded and collected by a garbage truck, and that he would not press charges. Police emphasized that they will still proactively investigate to clarify the source and responsibility. Police Chief Fang Yang-ning stated that the investigation will be conducted firmly in accordance with the law and administrative neutrality, to maintain citizen safety. Li provided a copy of a photo of the suspected tracker and a button battery, and stated that the driver discovered it and reported it, but later considered it a minor issue and discarded it. Li has forgotten when it was discarded, and the original object was collected by the garbage truck. Police will continue to investigate car repair shop maintenance records.
