(Central News Agency reporter Wang Cheng-chung, Taipei 17th) Labor Minister Hung Shen-han said that the first batch of Indian migrant workers might be introduced as early as this year. Kuomintang (KMT) Legislative Yuan caucus whip Fu Kun-chi stated today that facing the arrival of Indian migrant workers in Taiwan, there must be complete, safe, and socially stabilizing配套 measures. Regarding public safety concerns, the government should let the public understand, and he hopes Premier Cho Jung-tai will come to the Legislative Yuan to explain clearly to the public.
Hung Shen-han previously stated that the first batch of Indian migrant workers might be introduced as early as this year, which has caused concern among some people, with some worrying about public safety being affected. The Ministry of Labor stated on the 10th that it will fully evaluate and control the situation, and will not act rashly, asking the public to rest assured.
The Legislative Yuan held a session today. KMT Legislative Yuan caucus whip Fu Kun-chi said after the caucus meeting that the more important issue on today's agenda is Indian migrant workers, and the opposition parties hope that Cho Jung-tai can come to the Legislative Yuan to explain clearly to the public.
Fu Kun-chi pointed out how Indian migrant workers will enter Taiwan, and what kind of demand Taiwan has that requires the introduction of a large number of Indian migrant workers. After all, there are nearly 100,000 runaway foreign workers in the country, and the government's countermeasures have been inconsistent so far, and now another batch of migrant workers with different cultures from Taiwan is to be opened up. Therefore, the government must have complete, safe, and socially stabilizing配套 measures.
Fu Kun-chi stated that India, in particular, has little respect for women. To protect Taiwanese women, facing the influx of Indian migrant workers, has the government prepared for the public safety concerns? This must be made clear to the public.
Regarding the general budget bill being sent to committee, Fu Kun-chi pointed out that after so many months of persistence, an agreement was finally reached with the Executive Yuan. Regarding the military pay raise and the increase in the replacement rate of police and firefighters' retirement income passed by the Legislative Yuan, the Executive Yuan will propose its version of the amendment bill to comply with the legislative spirit at that time, so that all military and police personnel nationwide can receive the best care and treatment.
Regarding the amendment bill to the Anti-Corruption Act, which allows for exemption from punishment for minor corruption offenses involving less than NT$50,000, Fu Kun-chi stated that both ruling and opposition parties have a consensus, but he hopes that no one will go to the streets to scold people after the cross-party negotiation is completed. This is not the normal operation and ethics that the parliament should have. He hopes that the parliament can discuss matters rationally to ensure smooth parliamentary operations.
