TAIPEI (CNA) – Huafan University held a national high school illustration A4 show, themed "Beyond AI" this year, with a total of 44 works awarded. Among them, three works, including a moving 3D pop-up book and a mixed-media artwork presenting dreams with three-dimensional art, received special honors.
Huafan University today issued a press release stating that the "Wind and Cloud Roaming National High School Illustration A4 Show," organized by Huafan University's Department of Fine Arts and Cultural and Creative Industries, set this year's theme as "Beyond AI." Nearly 500 works participated, and finally, 3 special honors, 5 excellent works, 15 commendations, and 21 selections were chosen. The exhibition is currently on display at Huafan University's New Taipei Banqiao Center "Bridge Art Space" until the 16th.
Huafan University President Li Tien-jen stated that AI is powerful and seems omnipotent, but whether AI works can truly represent the complete you, or only show you wearing a mask, often leaves creators confused. Whether AI is treated as a friend, a tool, or a competitor, the creator's mental expression is the key to determining whether works with thinking ability can be produced.
This year, three works received the highest award, "Special Honor," including Zheng Yin-xuan from Muzha Vocational High School, Lin Pin-ru from Tainan University Affiliated High School, and Du Xing-huan from An Kang High School.
Zheng Yin-xuan's work "Dream" broke through the rigid framework of flat creation, using mixed media combined with three-dimensional art to present dreams, using real tactile sensations and the unreasonableness in dreams to form a sharp contrast with AI's calm rationality.
Lin Pin-ru, a first-year high school student, created a moving fairy tale pop-up book with unique creativity, showcasing delicate and complex craftsmanship and exquisite and beautiful painting style. When the locked book is opened, it seems to fall into a romantic and fantasy fairy tale world, with story protagonists such as owls, frog princes, mermaids, and big bad wolves leaping onto the paper. By turning the clock dial, a beautiful princess hidden under the AI robot can also be found.
Lin Pin-ru said that she had never made a pop-up book before, and this time she challenged herself to learn online, spending the entire winter vacation immersed in creation. (Editor: Wu Su-rou)1150414
