Central News Agency (Taipei, April 14) - Regarding the potential opening for Indian migrant workers, Minister of Labor Hung Shen-han stated that it must meet two prerequisites: enterprise demand and India's oversight. Fan Yun, Secretary-General of the DPP Legislative Caucus, said today that the caucus will strictly supervise the process and hopes the public will not discriminate against any single country or its people. The Ministry of Labor stated that the first batch of Indian migrant workers might be introduced as early as this year. Hung Shen-han reiterated on the 13th that the opening for Indian migrant workers is supported by all parties. The introduction depends on two prerequisites: the demand for Indian migrant workers from enterprises and whether India can meet Taiwan's requirements and provide oversight. Fan Yun and Chen Pei-yu, Deputy Secretary-General of the DPP Caucus, were interviewed by the media at the Legislative Yuan this morning. Fan Yun stated that Hung Shen-han had already explained the two prerequisites and also said that there would be no rash actions and no timetable. The caucus has heard concerns from all sectors, whether regarding social security or the labor market, and the DPP caucus will absolutely strictly supervise. She also reminded all sectors not to discriminate against any single country or its people, as this is the attitude Taiwan should uphold as a democratic nation. In addition, regarding the 10 cross-strait policy measures announced by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee after the "Zheng-Xi Meeting," Fan Yun said that the caucus had dismantled the so-called "Ten Great Gift Packages" yesterday, which is actually a "constantly recycled fruit basket." Based on past experience, many fruits in it can cause diarrhea, harming the long-term healthy development of Taiwan's overall agriculture, fisheries, and food industries. It originates from politics and will be terminated at any time for political reasons. (Editor: Wan Shu-chang) 1150414
