(CNA Reporter Huang Chiao-wen, Taipei, 16th) Videos have been circulating online of the public driving onto the yet-to-be-opened deck of the Danjiang Bridge to film promotional content. The Highway Bureau stated today that such actions seriously violate work zone safety and interfere with construction. If discovered in the future, violators will be immediately evicted and, if necessary, handled in accordance with the law in conjunction with police units.

The Danjiang Bridge, connecting Tamsui and Bali in New Taipei City and crossing the mouth of the Tamsui River, has a total main bridge length of about 920 meters and a main span of 450 meters. It is the world's longest single-tower asymmetric cable-stayed bridge, designed by the internationally renowned Zaha Hadid Architects, and is expected to officially open to traffic on May 12.

The Northern Region Branch of the Highway Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, issued a press release stating that the Danjiang Bridge is currently still in the construction and main structure/equipment testing phase. Traffic facilities on the bridge, including lighting, signs, markings, and protective railings, have not yet completed comprehensive safety inspections. At this stage, pre-opening safety inspection operations are underway, and the site environment is highly uncertain.

The Northern Region Branch stated that if the public enters without authorization, they not only face potential danger, but in the event of a sudden incident, it would be difficult to obtain immediate rescue assistance, posing an extremely high risk.

Regarding the recent online videos of people trespassing and driving on the unopened deck of the Danjiang Bridge for filming, the Northern Region Branch pointed out that such behavior seriously violates work zone safety and interferes with engineering construction. To maintain engineering safety and public order, they will continuously strengthen on-site patrols and entrance controls.

The Northern Region Branch stated that if violations are found again, in addition to immediate eviction, they will work with police units to handle it according to the law without leniency.

The Northern Region Branch emphasized that they understand the public's expectations for the Danjiang Bridge, which is scheduled to open on May 12. Before the official opening, a series of public experience events are planned, including marathons, cycling events, and starry sky concerts. Through flow diversion, limited quotas, and control measures, these events will be held without affecting existing safety inspections and opening preparations, allowing the public to safely view the Danjiang Bridge and the scenery of the Tamsui River mouth up close, sharing the achievements of public construction.
