Central News Agency (CNA)

(Central News Agency, Taipei, April 17) The Central News Agency has delved into various industries, launching its new book "When AI Meets ESG: How 36 Companies Successfully Transformed." This book demonstrates how benchmark enterprises skillfully combine AI technology with ESG sustainability goals to reduce carbon emissions, optimize processes, and even create new profit models, making it essential reading for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) implementing dual-axis transformation.

Following the widely acclaimed "28 Lessons on Carbon Trading" and "Essential Course on Net Zero for Enterprises," the Central News Agency has published the third part of its Net Zero Sustainability series, "When AI Meets ESG: How 36 Companies Successfully Transformed," before Earth Day on April 22. The book has received special recommendations from Chen Chien-jen, former Vice President and incoming President of Academia Sinica; Kung Ming-hsin, Minister of Economic Affairs; Lin Yi-ching, Minister of Digital Affairs; and Li Yung-te, Chairman of CNA.

In his preface, Chen Chien-jen called for enterprises not to view AI and ESG as two independent burdens, but rather to see AI as an accelerator for achieving ESG goals. Li Yung-te also stated that AI and climate action are the two core engines driving development for the next century, hoping that through this book, readers can see that SMEs can also transform pressure into innovative momentum.

Kung Ming-hsin approached the topic from a policy perspective, pointing out that the government is committed to promoting "industrial AI-ization" and "AI industrialization." The cases in this book accurately record Taiwan's industries' vivid practices of introducing smart technology to the front lines and implementing dual-axis transformation. Lin Yi-ching reminded that AI is the Midas touch that transforms ESG from a "cost center" into a "value center." This shift from "doing more projects" to "deeply cultivating products" is the necessary path for Taiwanese enterprises to enhance their international competitiveness in the AI era.

"When AI Meets ESG" is divided into three sections. Section one, "Traditional Industry Transformation," focuses on how traditional manufacturing industries use technology to reshape processes, transforming efficiency into green competitiveness. Section two, "Innovative Business Models," explores the transformation of the service industry, documenting how enterprises seek breakthroughs driven by AI technology to achieve a win-win situation for profit and sustainability. Section three, "Leading Trends," outlines high-tech and startup teams that provide key solutions for industries to achieve net-zero goals with cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins and ultra-low-power chips.

This book has also received strong recommendations from many experts in industry, government, and academia, including Cheng Li-chun, Vice Premier of the Executive Yuan and Deputy Convener of the Presidential Office's National Climate Change Response Committee; Yeh Chun-hsien, Minister of the National Development Council; Eugene Chien, Chairman of the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy; Huang Chi-jui, Dean of the College of Business at National Taipei University; Lin Yu-fan, Deputy Executive Director and Dean of the Digital Transformation Institute at the Institute for Information Industry; and Huang Cheng-chung, Managing Director of KPMG Sustainability Consulting Co., Ltd. All sectors hope that these 36 successful cases can help Taiwan's industries continue to break through in the wave of global supply chain restructuring.
