Chang Yu-ting Maintains Hitting Form Despite Post-Classic Fatigue, Temporarily Leads Batting Rankings

(Central News Agency Reporter Hsieh Ching-wen, New Taipei City, April 17) Fubon Guardians outfielder Chang Yu-ting, who transitioned from the pre-season World Baseball Classic (WBC) to the CPBL season, has maintained his excellent hitting form despite physical fatigue, currently leading the league in batting average. Chang Yu-ting expressed gratitude to the coaching staff for providing him with space and enabling him to maintain stable output through timely exchanges and adjustments.

Chang Yu-ting started in all of the Guardians' first 9 games this season, but took his first day off on the 14th. He returned to the starting lineup on the 15th, maintaining his hot streak by hitting 3 singles in 4 at-bats. As of today, he temporarily leads the CPBL rankings with a .421 batting average.

Chang Yu-ting stated that after playing through the WBC and into the CPBL season, he naturally experiences fatigue. Having a day off on the 14th, and playing primarily as a designated hitter recently with less defensive action, has helped reduce physical burden. He jokingly referred to himself as a 'stand-in shortstop'.

Regarding his batting performance so far this season, Chang Yu-ting said his hitting feels good and he's happy to be hitting the ball. He also mentioned that teammate Fan Kuo-chen is also in good form. He aims to hit singles and have the batters behind him drive him in, working to win more games and secure the first-half championship for the team.

Chang Yu-ting stated that the coaching staff has given him significant freedom to play. He also engages in discussions with hitting coaches regarding his swing path, balance, and rhythm.
