Taipei, April 14 (CNA) Special effects supervisor Kuo Hsien-tsung stated that the TV series "The Ferryman," starring actors Ko Chen-tung and Wang Po-chieh, features over 3200 special effects shots, with "each episode having the scale of a special effects film." The "Nine Dragon Fire Shield" effect, a magical artifact in the drama, is described as the most shocking scene. Kuo Hsien-tsung revealed that typical drama films have about 100 to 200 special effects shots, while effects films have around 400 to 600. However, "The Ferryman" boasts over 3200 shots, aiming to provide an unprecedented visual experience. The behind-the-scenes footage also showcased the opening scene where Ko Chen-tung falls into hell, which was created using full CG and virtual studio technology. Director Kuan Wei-chieh emphasized that the special effects in the series are not merely supplementary but act as a "character." Ko Chen-tung also directly stated that the "Nine Dragon Fire Shield" is definitely the most powerful. The entire series of "The Ferryman," consisting of 8 episodes, is now streaming on Netflix.
